Welcome to the Window to Indo registration page. Thank you so much for registering your interest with us. We hope through our half-day event you’ll be able to learn a few aspects of the Indonesian culture. The sessions on the day are as follow.

10am – 10:30am Physical Fitness (Senam Kesegaran Jasmani)

We will start the day with a morning exercise routine that is part of the Indonesian national culture.

In 1984, Senam Kesegaran Jasmani was made compulsory by the government to be taught to everyone. This activity is done en masse in a public venue and is accompanied by a catchy tune. It is taught in Indonesian schools and are practiced in offices during a certain day of the week, usually on a Friday morning.

10:30am – 11:15am Indonesian Language 101

Selamat pagi! Apa kabar?

Have you ever wanted to know what the Indonesian language sounds like? In this session we’ll be going through basic phrases that you can use in everyday situation and even practice when you meet the members of SPICE!

11:30am – 12:30pm Live Cooking Class: Nasi Goreng

We will take you through a live demonstration of cooking an Indonesian style fried rice. Come cook along with us and learn about some of the spices that are used in Indonesian cooking. As part of this session, we will also be doing a fundraising to help Yayasan Cinta Baca (Love to Read Foundation) by putting together cooking kits and delivering them to your door.

 12:30pm-1:30pm Lunch and Mission Talk with Indonesian Missionaries

After cooking some scrumptious Nasi Goreng, we will enjoy it together as we chat with our Indonesian missionaries and learn why they have chosen Indonesia as their mission field. Of course, you’re welcomed to bring your own lunch!

1:30pm – 2:00pm Break

We will have a break but will be displaying a slideshow of Indonesian destinations to show the richness and diversity of our nation. There will be a few of SPICE members that will be available for a chat and that will be happy to answer any of your questions!

2:00pm – 2:30pm Sustainable Products and Empowering Local Artists with kayu.co

SPICE’s very own Ira Puspita has launched her business of upcycling wood wastes and improving the social welfare of artisans in rural Indonesian villages. We will hear from Ira as she shares with us her journey to set up this business, her vision, and her mission.

2:30pm – 3:00pm Indonesian Music: Introduction to Gamelan

Indonesian music is very rich with each ethnic groups having their own form of music and songs. One of the most popular form of music from Indonesia is the Gamelan. One of our SPICE members, Lyndle, has had the privilege of playing with a Gamelan group in Indonesia and she will be sharing with us her experience with Gamelan.

3:00pm – 4:00pm Window to Indo Quiz

To close off the event, we will be conducting a quiz on all the things that we’ve learnt so far during this event. We will have prizes in the form of bags of handpicked Indonesian snacks delivered to your door. To get an advantage on this quiz, it is advisable to participate in all the sessions!
